2016 Premier Badminton League

The 2016 Premier Badminton League (PBL) was the inaugural season of India's professional badminton league, organized by Sporty Solutionz and sanctioned by the Badminton Association of India. The league commenced on January 2, 2016, and concluded on January 17, 2016, featuring six franchises representing various Indian cities: Delhi Acers, Bengaluru Blasters, Chennai Smashers, Hyderabad Hunters, Kolkata Badminton League, and Awadhe Warriors. Comprising a total of 22 matches, the tournament showcased a mix of established international stars and emerging Indian talents. The league aimed to popularize badminton in India and elevate its status through a franchise-based model, culminating in the Delhi Acers claiming the championship title.
