2016–17 Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy

The 2016–17 Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy was the ninth edition of India’s premier domestic Twenty20 cricket tournament, organized by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI). The tournament took place from January 8 to January 31, 2017, featuring 28 participating teams representing various state and regional associations from across the country. The competition was structured into a group stage followed by knockout rounds, culminating in the final match. Gujarat emerged as the champions, clinching their first title by defeating the Vidarbha team in the final held at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata. The trophy is named after Syed Mushtaq Ali, a former Indian cricketer, and aims to promote the format of T20 cricket at the domestic level.
