2014 Jharkhand Legislative Assembly election

The 2014 Jharkhand Legislative Assembly election was held from December 25, 2014, to January 20, 2015, to elect the 81 members of the Jharkhand Legislative Assembly. This election marked the first major electoral event in Jharkhand following the formation of a new government post the dissolution of the previous assembly. The elections were conducted in five phases, with the voter turnout reported at approximately 66%. The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) emerged as the dominant party, securing 37 seats under the leadership of Raghubar Das, who later became the Chief Minister of Jharkhand. This election was significant as it highlighted the BJP's growing influence in eastern India, while the Indian National Congress and the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) faced considerable setbacks. The results reflected a shift in regional political dynamics and voter sentiment towards development and governance issues.
