2014 Haryana Legislative Assembly election

The 2014 Haryana Legislative Assembly election was held on October 15, 2014, to elect the 90 members of the 13th Haryana Legislative Assembly. This election marked a significant political shift in the state, as it was conducted shortly after the 2014 Indian general election, in which the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) garnered a decisive victory. The BJP, led by its chief ministerial candidate and former state party president, Manohar Lal Khattar, emerged as the dominant force, winning 47 out of 90 seats, and establishing a government for the first time in Haryana. The elections witnessed a voter turnout of approximately 76%, reflecting a high level of public engagement. This election was notable for the decline of the Indian National Congress, which suffered significant losses, winning only 15 seats.
