2010 Bihar Legislative Assembly election

The 2010 Bihar Legislative Assembly election was held in two phases on October 21 and November 20, 2010, to elect the 243 members of the Bihar Legislative Assembly. This election was significant as it marked a crucial contest between the incumbent Janata Dal (United) (JD(U)), led by Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, and the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD), headed by Lalu Prasad Yadav. The JD(U) formed a coalition with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) under the National Democratic Alliance (NDA). The election witnessed high voter turnout and was characterized by issues such as development, caste dynamics, and governance. The JD(U)-BJP alliance emerged victorious, securing a substantial majority and reaffirming Nitish Kumar's leadership in the state.
