2007 Samjhauta Express bombings

The 2007 Samjhauta Express bombings were a series of deadly terrorist attacks that occurred on February 18, 2007, targeting the Samjhauta Express train, which runs between India and Pakistan. The blasts took place near the town of Panipat in Haryana, India, resulting in the deaths of at least 68 individuals, mostly Pakistani nationals, and injuring over 50 others. The attacks were attributed to communal tensions and were viewed as an attempt to escalate hostilities between India and Pakistan. Investigations into the bombings initially pointed to Pakistani-based militant groups; however, subsequent findings revealed involvement by right-wing Hindu extremists. The incident sparked widespread condemnation and raised concerns over cross-border terrorism and communal violence in the region.
