2007 Asian heat wave

The 2007 Asian heat wave was a severe meteorological event that predominantly affected India during the summer months, particularly in June and July. Characterized by unprecedented high temperatures, the heat wave resulted from a combination of climatic factors, including the failure of the southwest monsoon to arrive on schedule and prolonged dry conditions across the region. Coastal states like Gujarat, Maharashtra, and Andhra Pradesh experienced some of the highest temperatures, with several locations recording above 45 °C (113 °F). The extreme heat led to significant health crises, including increased cases of heatstroke and dehydration, and adversely impacted agricultural productivity, exacerbating food insecurity in rural areas. The event highlighted the growing concerns over climate change and its implications for South Asia's weather patterns and public health.
