19th Lancers

The 19th Lancers, officially known as the 19th (The Lancers) Regiment of the British Indian Army, was a cavalry regiment that played a significant role in the military campaigns of British India during the 19th and early 20th centuries. Established in the early 1850s, the regiment was primarily raised to enhance British military presence in India, particularly amidst the expanding threat of rival powers. The 19th Lancers became renowned for their distinguished service during the Indian Rebellion of 1857, as well as in subsequent conflicts such as the Second Anglo-Afghan War. The regiment was known for its distinctive uniforms and effective cavalry tactics, contributing to the evolution of mounted warfare in the region. The 19th Lancers was ultimately merged into the armed forces of independent India in 1950.
