The 1993 Latur earthquake, a devastating seismic event, occurred on September 30, 1993, in the Latur district of Maharashtra, India. Registered at a magnitude of 6.4 on the Richter scale, it resulted from the release of built-up stress along the tectonic plate boundary in the region. The earthquake struck in the early hours, devastating several villages and towns, with Latur and Osmanabad as the hardest-hit areas.
