1934 Nepal–India earthquake

The 1934 Nepal–India earthquake, also known as the Bihar–Nepal earthquake, occurred on January 15, 1934, and measured 8.0 on the moment magnitude scale. Centered near the border between Nepal and India, this catastrophic event affected a vast region, resulting in significant destruction in cities such as Kathmandu and Patna. The earthquake struck during daytime, leading to widespread panic and devastation. The damage was exacerbated by subsequent aftershocks, which contributed to the collapse of numerous buildings and infrastructure. The death toll is estimated to be between 10,000 to 20,000 people, with tens of thousands more injured and displaced.
