17th Lok Sabha

The 17th Lok Sabha is the lower house of the Parliament of India, constituted following the general elections held in April–May 2019. It comprises 545 members, including 543 directly elected representatives from various constituencies across the country and two nominated members from the Anglo-Indian community, although the latter provision has been rendered obsolete by the 104th Constitutional Amendment. The 17th Lok Sabha is notable for its high percentage of first-time members, reflecting a significant shift in the political landscape. The house is presided over by the Speaker, with the ruling coalition led by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The assembly is marked by its legislative activities and debates on a range of socio-economic issues.
