17th Bihar Assembly

The 17th Bihar Legislative Assembly is the state assembly of Bihar, India, constituted following the legislative assembly elections held in October 2020. It consists of 243 members, elected through direct vote in single-member constituencies across the state. The assembly operates under a parliamentary system and is responsible for enacting laws, formulating policies, and overseeing the state government. The ruling party, the Janata Dal (United) (JD(U)), alongside its allies, forms the government, while the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) serves as the primary opposition. The assembly sessions are held at the Vidhan Sabha premises in Patna, where legislative discussions, budget approvals, and other critical state matters are deliberated.
