103rd Regiment of Foot (Royal Bombay Fusiliers)

The 103rd Regiment of Foot (Royal Bombay Fusiliers) was a distinguished infantry regiment of the British Indian Army, raised in 1857 during the Indian Rebellion. Initially composed largely of Indian sepoys, the regiment played a pivotal role in maintaining British control during a period of significant upheaval in India. Renowned for its valor and effectiveness, the regiment participated in various military campaigns, notably in the Second Afghan War (1878–1880) and the Boxer Rebellion in China (1900). The 103rd was officially designated Royal Bombay Fusiliers in recognition of its service and legacy. With a rich history, the regiment was eventually integrated into the Indian Army post-independence in 1947, continuing to serve under the new democratic governance of India.
