1982 Asian Games

The 1982 Asian Games, officially known as the IX Asiad, were held in New Delhi, India, from November 19 to December 4, 1982. This multi-sport event marked the first time that India hosted the Asian Games, featuring athletes from 21 nations across Asia. A total of 310 events in 21 sports were contested during the games, with notable competitions including athletics, wrestling, and basketball. The opening ceremony was celebrated at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium, showcasing cultural performances and a vibrant display of regional heritage.
