16th Punjab Regiment

The 16th Punjab Regiment was a distinguished infantry regiment of the British Indian Army, formed in 1857 during the Indian Rebellion. Originating from the Punjab province, the regiment played a pivotal role in various military operations throughout its service, including both World Wars and the post-independence conflict in India and Pakistan. Known for its bravery and tactical proficiency, the regiment adopted the motto Nihil Nisi Optimum (Nothing but the Best). The 16th Punjab Regiment was involved in significant battles across diverse theaters, earning numerous honors and accolades. Following the partition of India in 1947, it was restructured into the 16th Punjab Battalion of the Pakistan Army, continuing its legacy of valor and dedication.
