2016–17 I-League 2nd Division

The 2016–17 I-League 2nd Division was the second tier of Indian football, serving as a qualifying league for the I-League, the top professional football division in India. Commencing in October 2016 and concluding in May 2017, the season featured a total of 10 teams competing in a round-robin format. The tournament was organized by the All India Football Federation (AIFF) and played a pivotal role in the promotion process to the I-League. Clubs aimed to secure a top position to gain entry into the subsequent season of the premier league. Notably, the league provided a platform for emerging talent and fostered the development of football in India at grassroots levels. The season was marked by intense competition, highlighting the growth of the sport in the country.
