161st Indian Infantry Brigade

The 161st Indian Infantry Brigade was an infantry brigade of the Indian Army formed during World War II. Established in 1942, the brigade was part of the British Indian Army and played a crucial role in various campaigns in the Southeast Asian theatre. Notably, it was involved in operations against Japanese forces in Burma, contributing to the Allied efforts to reclaim territory occupied by Axis powers. The brigade comprised multiple battalions, including units from the Indian Army, and was instrumental in implementing strategies to enhance mobility and effectiveness in jungle warfare. Following the war, the brigade was disbanded, marking the end of its operational existence, but it remains a significant part of India's military history.
