2014 Sikkim Legislative Assembly election

The 2014 Sikkim Legislative Assembly election was held on April 12, 2014, to elect the members of the 32nd Legislative Assembly of Sikkim, India. This election took place simultaneously with the Indian general elections, which were being conducted for the 16th Lok Sabha. The ruling Sikkim Democratic Front (SDF), led by Chief Minister Pawan Chamling, sought to secure a fifth consecutive term in office against significant competition from opposition parties, including the Sikkim Kranti Morcha (SKM). A total of 32 seats were contested in the assembly, with key issues such as development, employment, and environmental sustainability dominating the electoral discourse. The election results played a vital role in shaping the political landscape of Sikkim in subsequent years.
