2014 Indian Premier League

The 2014 Indian Premier League (IPL) was the seventh season of the professional Twenty20 cricket league established by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI). Held from April 16 to June 1, 2014, the tournament featured eight franchises representing various cities across India. The season was notably marked by the suspension of two franchises, Chennai Super Kings and Rajasthan Royals, amid allegations of corruption and match-fixing. Initially, the tournament was scheduled to take place entirely in India; however, due to security concerns arising from the Indian general elections, a significant portion of the matches was relocated to the United Arab Emirates. Kolkata Knight Riders emerged as champions, securing their second IPL title by defeating Kings XI Punjab in a closely contested final.
