2014 Andhra Pradesh Legislative Assembly election

The 2014 Andhra Pradesh Legislative Assembly election was held on May 7, 2014, to elect members of the 15th Legislative Assembly of the Indian state of Andhra Pradesh. The election was conducted following the bifurcation of Andhra Pradesh, which resulted in the formation of a new state, Telangana, on June 2, 2014. This election was significant as it was the first since the bifurcation, and it shaped the political landscape of the residual Andhra Pradesh. The main political parties contesting included the Telugu Desam Party (TDP), the Yuvajana Sramika Rythu Congress Party (YSRCP), and the Indian National Congress (INC). The TDP, led by N. Chandrababu Naidu, emerged victorious, securing a decisive majority and marking Naidu's return as Chief Minister after a decade. The election reflected the region's aspirations and challenges post-bifurcation.
