2011 Indian census

The 2011 Indian Census, conducted by the Office of the Registrar General and Census Commissioner of India, was the 15th national census since 1871 and the first since 2001, taking place between February 9 and March 5, 2011. It recorded a total population of 1.21 billion, marking an increase of 181 million from 2001. The census employed a comprehensive methodology, including house-to-house enumeration, to ensure accuracy in the collection of demographic data.
