2011 Cricket World Cup

The 2011 Cricket World Cup, officially the 10th edition of the ICC Cricket World Cup, was co-hosted by India, Sri Lanka, and Bangladesh from February 19 to April 2, 2011. This tournament marked India's second time hosting the event, having previously co-hosted in 1987 and served as a stand-alone host in 1996. The competition featured 14 teams and a total of 49 matches, culminating in a historic final at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. India triumphed in the tournament, defeating Sri Lanka by six wickets, thereby securing its second World Cup title, and becoming the first nation to win the World Cup on home soil since 1996. The event was celebrated for its atmosphere, fan engagement, and the resurgence of cricket in the subcontinent.
