2007–08 I-League

The 2007–08 I-League, officially the inaugural season of India's top professional football league, took place from September 2007 to April 2008. Organized by the All India Football Federation (AIFF), the league featured 10 teams, including traditional powerhouses like Mohun Bagan and East Bengal. The format consisted of a double round-robin system, where each team played home and away matches against all other teams. This season marked a significant shift in Indian football, transitioning from the National Football League to a more commercially viable structure. The league concluded with Rajasthan United FC emerging as the first champions, securing their place in Indian football history. The season was pivotal in enhancing the sport's popularity and professional standards across the country.
