1952 Saurashtra Legislative Assembly election

The 1952 Saurashtra Legislative Assembly election was held in the newly established Saurashtra State, India, on March 25, 1952. It was the first legislative assembly election conducted in the region following its formation on April 1, 1948, and subsequent integration into the State of Gujarat. The election aimed to elect representatives to the Saurashtra Legislative Assembly, comprising 60 constituencies. The Indian National Congress emerged as the dominant political force, securing a majority and establishing a government led by Chief Minister J.S. Dhanani. The election marked a pivotal moment in the region's political landscape, reflecting the post-independence consolidation of power and the beginning of democratic governance in Saurashtra.
