1952 Rajasthan Legislative Assembly election

The 1952 Rajasthan Legislative Assembly election was held in March 1952, marking the first election to the newly formed Legislative Assembly of Rajasthan, following the state's integration in 1949. Conducted under the provisions of the Government of India Act 1935, the election was significant in establishing democratic governance in the region. Approximately 4.5 million eligible voters participated in the electoral process, leading to the formation of a 200-member assembly. The Indian National Congress emerged as the dominant party, securing a substantial majority, while other parties, including the Bharatiya Janata Party's precursor, made notable but lesser impacts. This election laid the foundation for Rajasthan's political landscape in subsequent decades.
