2014 Andhra Pradesh urban local bodies elections

The 2014 Andhra Pradesh Urban Local Bodies elections were conducted in two phases on 30 March 2014 and 8 April 2014, following the bifurcation of the state into Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. These elections were significant as they marked the first local body polls in the residual state, allowing citizens to elect representatives for various urban local bodies, including municipalities and municipal corporations. The elections were largely viewed as a precursor to the general elections held later that year. The Yuvajana Sramika Rythu Congress Party (YSRCP) emerged as a major political force, reflecting the shifting political landscape in the region. Voter turnout was reported at approximately 65%, underscoring significant public engagement in local governance.
