1951 Asian Games

The 1951 Asian Games, officially known as the I Asian Games, were a multi-sport event held from March 4 to March 11, 1951, in New Delhi, India. Organized by the Asian Games Federation, the event marked the inaugural edition of the Asian Games, bringing together athletes from 11 Asian countries. A total of 491 athletes competed in 6 sports, with events ranging from athletics to wrestling. The Games aimed to promote solidarity and cooperation among Asian nations through sport and cultural exchange. India, as the host nation, emerged as the overall champion, securing a total of 51 medals, including 29 gold.
