1928 Summer Olympics

The 1928 Summer Olympics, officially the Games of the IX Olympiad, were held in Amsterdam, Netherlands, from July 28 to August 12, 1928. This marked a significant return of the Olympic Games after the disruptions of World War I. A total of 46 nations participated, with approximately 3,000 athletes competing in 14 sports. This edition of the Games introduced several key innovations, including the introduction of the Olympic flame and the first-ever women's athletics events, thereby expanding female participation in the Olympics. The United States topped the medal table, followed by the host nation, the Netherlands. These Games are notable for their emphasis on sportsmanship and international cooperation.
