14th Dalai Lama

The 14th Dalai Lama, Tenzin Gyatso, born on July 6, 1935, in Taktser, Amdo, Tibet, is the spiritual leader of Tibetan Buddhism and a prominent advocate for peace and non-violence. Following the 1959 Tibetan uprising against Chinese rule, he sought asylum in India, where he established the Central Tibetan Administration in Dharamshala, which became a focal point for the Tibetan exile community. Renowned for his teachings on compassion and mindfulness, he has received numerous international accolades, including the Nobel Peace Prize in 1989. The Dalai Lama has played a significant role in promoting human values and interfaith dialogue, advocating for the autonomy of Tibet while emphasizing the need for a peaceful resolution to the Sino-Tibetan conflict.
