13th Lok Sabha

The 13th Lok Sabha of India was the lower house of Parliament, constituted following the general elections held in September–October 1999. It served from October 1999 to April 2004 and comprised 543 members representing various political parties across the country. The 13th Lok Sabha was notable for the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) government, headed by Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee, which held a majority. This period witnessed significant legislative initiatives, including economic reforms, the introduction of the Goods and Services Tax (GST), and various social welfare schemes.
