1915 Kachin Hills uprising

The 1915 Kachin Hills Uprising was an armed rebellion orchestrated by the Kachin people against British colonial rule in Burma (now Myanmar). Originating in the Kachin Hills region, the uprising was rooted in longstanding grievances related to political marginalization, economic exploitation, and cultural suppression by British authorities. Sparked in 1915, the rebellion gained momentum under local leaders who sought to resist the imposition of colonial taxes and policies. Over the ensuing months, the conflict escalated, leading to significant military engagements between Kachin forces and British troops. Ultimately, the uprising was suppressed by the British, but it underscored the Kachin people's desire for autonomy and highlighted broader anti-colonial sentiments in Burma during this period.
