2011 Census of India

The 2011 Census of India, conducted from January 9 to February 28, 2011, was the 15th national census since 1871 and the largest administrative exercise in the world. Under the aegis of the Office of the Registrar General and Census Commissioner of India, the census aimed to provide comprehensive demographic, social, and economic data across the country's diverse population. With a total population of approximately 1.21 billion, the census revealed critical insights, including a growth rate of 17.7% from the previous decade, a literacy rate of 74.04%, and significant urbanization trends. The findings underscored regional disparities, highlighting the need for targeted governance and policy interventions to address socio-economic challenges.
