13th Duke of Connaught's Lancers (Watson's Horse)

The 13th Duke of Connaught's Lancers (Watson's Horse) is a historic cavalry regiment of the British Indian Army, established in 1857. Originally formed during the Indian Rebellion of 1857, the unit was named in honor of the Duke of Connaught, the third son of Queen Victoria. The regiment gained recognition for its distinguished service in various campaigns across India, including the Second Anglo-Afghan War and the Malakand Expedition. Operating primarily in North-West Frontier Province regions, the 13th Duke of Connaught's Lancers became renowned for its cavalry tactics and effectiveness in mountainous terrain. Following India's independence in 1947, the regiment transitioned into the Indian Army, where it continues to maintain its legacy as part of the armoured corps.
