2013 Uttarakhand local elections

The 2013 Uttarakhand local elections were held in two phases on November 30 and December 15, 2013, to elect representatives for the 84 municipal bodies across the state of Uttarakhand, India. This election marked the first instance of local body elections being conducted after the establishment of the Uttarakhand Panchayati Raj Act. It was characterized by the participation of various political parties, with the Indian National Congress, the Bharatiya Janata Party, and the Bahujan Samaj Party being the major contenders. The elections were significant not only for their timing, occurring just months after the 2013 Uttarakhand floods, but also for their role in strengthening grassroots governance in the region. Voting turnout was notably high, reflecting the electorate's engagement in local governance issues.
