2015–16 Santosh Trophy

The 2015–16 Santosh Trophy was the 70th edition of the prestigious annual knockout football tournament in India, organized by the All India Football Federation (AIFF). The tournament ran from January 24 to March 2, 2016, featuring state and regional teams competing for the title. This edition saw 37 teams divided into several groups, with matches held across various venues in the country. The tournament culminated in the finals held at the Sree Kanteerava Stadium in Bengaluru, where Punjab claimed victory, defeating Karnataka in a closely contested match. The Santosh Trophy, named after the late Maharaja of Santosh, is one of the oldest tournaments in Indian football and serves as a key platform for promoting regional talent.
