2015 Kerala local elections

The 2015 Kerala local elections were held in three phases on November 2, 5, and 9, 2015, to elect representatives for local self-government bodies across the state of Kerala, India. This election was significant as it included the election of members to 21,000 local bodies, comprising gram panchayats (village councils), block panchayats (block councils), and district panchayats (district councils), as well as municipal corporations and municipalities. The elections were contested primarily by major political parties including the Indian National Congress, the Communist Party of India (Marxist), and the Bharatiya Janata Party. The results reflected the political dynamics in Kerala, with the Left Democratic Front emerging as the dominant force in the local governance landscape.
