2004 Indian general election in Kerala

The 2004 Indian general election in Kerala was held in conjunction with the nationwide elections from April 20 to May 10, 2004, as part of the 14th Lok Sabha elections. Kerala, known for its politically engaged electorate and distinct party dynamics, featured a significant contest primarily between the United Democratic Front (UDF) and the Left Democratic Front (LDF). The UDF, led by the Indian National Congress, sought to retain power against the LDF, comprised mainly of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) and other leftist parties. The elections were marked by issues such as economic development, social welfare, and employment. Ultimately, the LDF emerged victorious, winning 18 out of 20 seats, marking a substantial shift in the state's political landscape.
