The 1997 Nehru Cup was the inaugural edition of the Nehru Cup, a prestigious international football tournament held in India to commemorate the legacy of Jawaharlal Nehru, the country's first Prime Minister. Organized by the All India Football Federation (AIFF), the tournament took place from 12 to 20 October 1997 in New Delhi and featured four national teams: India, Russia, Mexico, and Kenya.
