2015 Nepal blockade

The 2015 Nepal blockade was a significant political and humanitarian crisis that unfolded following a devastating earthquake in Nepal on April 25, 2015. The blockade was largely attributed to ongoing tensions between the Nepalese government and various ethnic minority groups, particularly the Madhesi community, who sought greater representation and rights in the new constitution. Although officially described as a fuel crisis exacerbated by road disruptions from the earthquake, the blockade coincided with India's decision to restrict supplies, which many believed was a reaction to Nepal's constitutional changes. The situation led to widespread shortages of essential goods, including fuel and food, causing severe hardship for the Nepalese population and straining Nepal-India relations.
