1998 Rajya Sabha elections

The 1998 Rajya Sabha elections in India constituted the elections held to elect members to the Rajya Sabha, the upper house of Parliament, as well as the legislative assemblies of various states and Union territories. These elections took place in two phases, with the first phase occurring in April 1998 and the second in July 1998. The elections were pivotal as they occurred against the backdrop of a politically fragmented landscape, reflecting the evolving dynamics of regional parties and alliances. A total of 63 seats were contested across different states.
