2013 Mizoram Legislative Assembly election

The 2013 Mizoram Legislative Assembly election was held on November 25, 2013, to elect the 40 members of the Mizoram Legislative Assembly. This election marked the state's eighth legislative assembly election since its formation in 1987. The main political contest was between the ruling Indian National Congress (INC), led by Chief Minister Lal Thanhawla, and the opposition Mizo National Front (MNF), along with other smaller parties. The INC aimed to retain its majority in the assembly, while the MNF sought to regain power after losing in 2008. Voter turnout was recorded at approximately 80%. The election was significant in shaping the state's political landscape and addressing local issues, including development and governance.
