1st Brahmans

The 1st Brahmans, or Brahmins, refer to the early Hindu priestly class in ancient India, traditionally recognized for their roles as scholars, teachers, and performers of rituals. Originating in the Vedic period (c. 1500 – c. 500 BCE), Brahmins are primarily associated with the study and recitation of the Vedas, the oldest sacred texts of Hinduism. They played a pivotal role in shaping the religious and social landscape of Indian society, establishing themselves as custodians of religious knowledge and cultural practices. Throughout history, Brahmins have influenced various aspects of Indian life, including education, philosophy, and governance, while also facing both reverence and criticism for their social status and privileges within the caste system.
