13th Duke of Connaught's Own Bombay Lancers

The 13th Duke of Connaught's Own Bombay Lancers was a distinguished cavalry regiment of the British Indian Army, formed in 1857 during the Indian Rebellion of 1857. Initially established as the Bombay Volunteer Cavalry, the regiment was later named after Prince Arthur, the Duke of Connaught, reflecting its allegiance to the British Crown. The regiment was primarily active in the western regions of India and was renowned for its role in numerous military campaigns, including the Second Anglo-Afghan War and World War I. The unit was disbanded in 1922, and its legacy continues to be commemorated for its contributions to both British military history and the development of Indian cavalry forces.
