2016 Pampore attack

The 2016 Pampore attack was a terrorist assault that occurred on February 20, 2016, at a government-funded paramilitary training center in Pampore, a town in the Pulwama district of Jammu and Kashmir, India. Coordinated by three militants affiliated with the Pakistani-based militant group Lashkar-e-Taiba, the attack resulted in a prolonged standoff between the assailants and security forces, lasting over 48 hours. During the encounter, two Indian security personnel were killed, and two others were injured, alongside the neutralization of the attackers. The incident highlighted ongoing security concerns in the region and sparked debates on India's counter-terrorism strategies. It underscored the complex geopolitical tensions between India and Pakistan, exacerbating the already volatile situation in Kashmir.
