2004–2010 Telangana protests

The Telangana protests (2004–2010) were a series of agitations primarily driven by demands for the establishment of a separate Telangana state in southern India. Emerging from historical grievances regarding resource distribution and political representation, the movement gained momentum after the 2004 electoral victory of the Indian National Congress in Andhra Pradesh, which included promises of statehood. Major protests, hunger strikes, and rallies were organized by students, political parties, and civil organizations, particularly the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS). The movement culminated in heightened tensions and violence, prompting government interventions. Ultimately, the protests played a crucial role in the formation of Telangana as the 29th state of India on June 2, 2014.
