1993 Nehru Cup

The 1993 Nehru Cup was the inaugural edition of the Nehru Cup, an international football tournament held in India, named in honor of Jawaharlal Nehru, the first Prime Minister of India. Organized by the All India Football Federation (AIFF), the tournament took place from August 25 to September 1, 1993, in New Delhi. Featuring four teams, including India, the competition aimed to promote football in the region and foster international relations. The matches were played at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium, which served as a central venue. India emerged as the champion of the tournament, defeating the Myanmar national team in the final, and thereby marked a significant moment in the development of football in the country.
