2016 South Asian Games

The 2016 South Asian Games, officially the 12th edition of the South Asian Games, took place from February 6 to February 16, 2016, in Guwahati, Assam, and Shillong, Meghalaya, India. The multi-sport event featured participation from eight South Asian countries, namely India, Bangladesh, Bhutan, the Maldives, Nepal, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, and Afghanistan. India emerged as the dominant force, securing a total of 308 medals, including 212 gold, thereby reinforcing its position in regional sports. The games were organized by the South Asian Sports Council under the auspices of the Indian Olympic Association. Events spanned traditional sports as well as modern disciplines, promoting regional camaraderie and sportsmanship among participating nations.
