2014 India–Pakistan floods

The 2014 India–Pakistan floods were a series of devastating floods that predominantly affected the Indian state of Jammu and Kashmir from September 2 to September 14, 2014. Triggered by heavy monsoonal rains and the subsequent overflow of the Jhelum River and its tributaries, the floods claimed over 500 lives and displaced thousands of residents. As the region experienced its worst flooding in over a century, the Indian government and various NGOs mobilized extensive relief operations. Infrastructure damage was extensive, with roads, bridges, and homes submerged or destroyed, complicating rescue efforts. The humanitarian crisis prompted national and international responses, highlighting the vulnerabilities of the region to extreme weather events.
