2015–16 Arunachal Pradesh political crisis

The 2015–16 Arunachal Pradesh political crisis was a significant constitutional and political conflict in the northeastern Indian state of Arunachal Pradesh. The crisis emerged in December 2015, when the ruling Indian National Congress (INC) faced dissent from within, leading to a split in its legislative assembly. Chief Minister Nabam Tuki's government encountered challenges after opposition parties, including the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), accused it of misgovernance and corruption. The situation escalated when the Governor, Jyoti Prasad Rajkhowa, unconstitutionally advanced the legislative assembly session, resulting in a controversial impeachment motion against Tuki. Following a Supreme Court ruling in July 2016, the Tuki-led government was restored, underscoring the crisis' implications for federal governance and political stability in India.
