2009–10 Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy

The 2009–10 Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy was the inaugural edition of the domestic Twenty20 cricket tournament organized by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI). Named after former Indian cricketer Syed Mushtaq Ali, the tournament featured state and regional teams competing in a series of matches that showcased emerging talent across the nation. Commencing in July 2009, the tournament aimed to popularize the T20 format in India, following the global success of the Indian Premier League (IPL). The competition concluded in November 2009, with teams participating in a group stage followed by knockout rounds. Karnataka emerged as the champions, defeating the Tamil Nadu team in the final, thus claiming the first-ever title in this format of domestic cricket.
